The string of pearls plant (Senecio rowleyanus) is a succulent vine with bead-like leaves that resembles a string of pearls:

Appearance
The string of pearls plant has small, oval, pea-shaped leaves that cover its stems. The leaves have a translucent line that runs vertically to the tip, which helps with photosynthesis. The plant produces small, creamy-white daisy-like flowers with long red stamens and yellow anthers.

Growth
The string of pearls plant is a trailing succulent that can grow up to three feet long. It has weak surface roots and trailing stems that root at the nodes to form a dense ground cover.

Habitat
The string of pearls plant is native to the dry areas of the eastern Cape of South Africa. It grows in the shade of other plants and rocks to avoid direct sunlight.

Care
The string of pearls plant is low maintenance and thrives in average room temperatures. It doesn’t require high humidity levels but may benefit from occasional misting during dry weather. The plant can be propagated by re-rooting pieces that are pruned off.
