Calandrinia grandiflora, also known as Rock Purslane, is a flowering succulent plant native to Chile with the following characteristics:
Appearance: This shrubby, mounding plant has fleshy, blue-green leaves and bright pink to purple flowers that bloom from spring to fall. The flowers are cup-shaped and appear to float above the foliage on tall, slender stems.
Size: This plant can grow to be 1–3 ft tall and 2–3 ft wide.
Growing conditions: Calandrinia grandiflora prefers full sun to part shade and well-drained soil. It can tolerate drought once established, but needs regular watering during the first growing season.
Uses: This plant is a great choice for rock gardens, borders, parking strips, or containers. It’s also deer-resistant.
Propagation: Seeds can be sown at any time, but are best sown in winter or early spring. Cover the seeds thinly with sand or fine grit, and if they don’t come up within 6–12 weeks, you can try cold treating the seed tray in the fridge for about four weeks.
Maintenance: Cut the plant back to 6 in during winter and apply compost in spring.
You will receive a plant in the pot size you choose.
